They say you should start a new blog by writing something about yourself and the main stuff you want to write about. Don’t ask me who “they” are, but there are plenty of smart people out there who know much more about blogging than I do. So let’s just roll with it for a while.
What this is all about
I read a lot. I don’t watch TV because I don’t like it (and thanks to ADHD I’m easily bored by most of the shows and movies out there), so instead I read or fall down the rabbit hole that is the internet for hours. Furthermore, I write about what I read (you may recognize that in time) because I’m nurturing a serious case of imposter syndrome as a PhD-student (comparative literature / modern war literature). Not the most promising path to choose, but I need the thrill of being overworked and (at times) overqualified while also being under-employed (like, literally) and underpaid.
While pursuing a thesis solely for the fact that I (once thought I would) enjoy analyzing and processing words, pictures, and different worlds, I survive on gig jobs as a freelance writer and editor. Moreover, I’m also a copywriter at an ad agency. Obviously, I do not plan a career in academia. I simply like to read and write (more or less) professionally.
On a side note, this is my personal space in which I read and write any way I like. I do not intend to include enlightening essays on modern academy or the like here. This blog is for fun, for free writing, for sharing thoughts, ideas, and things I like — nevermind their cultural or any other ‘value.’
I enjoy the privilege of sharing my life with one of the greatest and most loving human beings I’ve ever encountered, Wonderguy. And I have a cat, Pippi Longstocking Furstocking.
Apart from that I am a loner. Like, the Last of the Mohicans is a party animal in comparison to yours truly. Hence the name and spirit of this blog…
And I guess that’s all there is to say for now.
Did I mention the cat?
